For those of us with a deep sense of empathy and a profound emotional life, sometimes what we feel seems dangerous; our emotions are too much or we’re too much. So we exert effort to control what we feel and keep everyone around us safe and comfortable.
Emotional expression can take many forms, but our minds hold it in a limited way. Rage is bad. Shame should be hidden. Hate is forbidden. Grief is private. Terror is irrational. Fury destroys.
Today, when we continue this story of what we were shown, taught and told about our emotions, we suffer. When we automatically control what we feel by tightening our diaphragms, contracting our throats, gripping our jaws, stiffening our necks, and numbing our deep belly and groin, we disconnect from our emotional strength. We’re then left feeling powerless, moody, burned out, depressed, unsure, heavy and apathetic. And over time we lose connection to our dreams, hope and future.
Emotional energy that doesn’t flow, leaves us disconnected and disempowered; cut off from a fundamental part of ourselves, the pure energy of inspiration, intuition and life force.
A healthy flow of potent emotions, through our bodies, can burn away the fog of despair, shake us out of complacency toward righteous action, connect us to each other through our hearts and vulnerability, show us where real danger lies and guide us away, and finally, it can teach us how to trust.
In this 3.5 hour workshop we’ll:
- Explore the potent depths of our emotional life through sensation, movement and feeling
- activate our low belly, sensitize our groin, open our diaphragms and let go in our minds
- shift an old story that we hold about who we are, as emotional beings
- connect to emotions as a physical flow of energy – heat, tingling, shivers, sweat, shaking, movement – and integrate it into our bodies.
- dive into the richness of healthy, emotional power and our ability to contain it with strength and maturity.
This workshop is a doorway to a lifetime practice. You’ll learn to incorporate previously difficult emotions and transform them into clarity and strength. Together, we’ll shift the old narrative of “good” and “bad” emotions. We’ll begin to embody emotional power, and create the life and world we want.
